Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has withdrawn its notice requiring ArcelorMittal South Africa to halt operation of certain units at its Vanderbijlpark plant and confirmed that it is satisfied that ArcelorMittal South Africa's Vanderbijlpark plant has fully complied with its obligations.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, ArcelorMittal South Africa shut down its electric arc furnaces at the plant in October 2012, following the local government's notice informing the company that it breached air emission licensing standards.

Additionally, the Vanderbijlpark plant is expected to resume full production by the end of April, following the fire which occurred at the plant in February, causing extensive damage to its steelmaking facilities and resulting in immediate shutdown.
