Ireland based bus maker, Wrightbus, has won GBP41m contract from Singapore’s SBS Transit for the supply of 550 double-decker buses over the next three years.
The 40ft Gemini 2 Double Deck buses will be manufactured as kits in the company's Ballymena facility in Northern Ireland and later they will be assembled in Singapore.
Powered by Euro V engines, the new buses will be built on Volvo B9TL tri-axle chassis.
Deliveries of the new buses are expected to start in 2013 with scheduled completion in by 2015.
Wrightbus has sold nearly 450 Double Deck buses to SBS Transit, which are expected to be operational by the end of 2012.
