Nestle has announced the opening of the new 35m bottling and warehouse facility at Waterswallows in Buxton, as part of its plans to invest 500m in the UK over three years.

According to the company, the new production lines have enabled Nestlé Waters to cut down its total energy output, besides minimizing the packaging used in its Buxton Natural Mineral Water and Nestlé Pure Life Spring Water bottles by an average of 25% across the range.

Nestlé CEO Paul Bulcke said the site will contribute to accelerate the development of the company's bottled water activities and illustrates its capacity for innovation in production facilities through a new approach.

"The Buxton factory is an excellent example of how we continue to invest in Europe despite tough economic conditions," Bulcke said.

The investment is said to ensure that Buxton remains the home of Nestlé Waters' bottling facilities long into the future.
